The BJP, presently leading in 108 seats, looks all set to form the next Karnataka government.
The Congress has received a serious blow as it is set to lose another stronghold in the country. The country's oldest political party is leading in 73 seats.
H.D. Deve Gowda's Janata Dal (Secular), which was earlier thought of playing a crucial role in the government formation, is leading in 39 seats.
The majority mark in the 224-seat Assembly is 113.
Results of 222 seats will be declared on Tuesday.
Polling was not held in two seats on Saturday when people voted in the southern state to elect a new Assembly.
