Nine people killed, two injured in four separate road mishaps in Assam

Guwahati, May 18 (IBNS): At least nine people were killed and two others injured in four separate road mishaps in Assam in the past 24 hours.

According to reports, three people were killed when a speeding truck mowed down them on National Highway 31 (C) in Gossaigaon area in Kokrajhar district on Thursday night.

Local people said that the dead were employees of a petrol pump and were returning home.

The deceased persons were identified as Robinson Das Hebrom, Robinson Hebrom and Supriya Murmu.

In a separate incident, four people died in a road mishap in Kamalpur area near Baihata Chariali in Kamrup (Rural) districton Thursday night.

The incident happened when a Wagon-R vehicle hit a roadside parked truck.

Two people died on the spot and four others received serious injuries.

The injured were rushed to Guwahati Medical College Hospital, where two succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased persons were identified as Andhi Boro, Merina Boro, Manmohan Boro and Liza Boro.

In tow other incidents, an old woman died when a vehicle hit her in North Guwahati area and another person died in Khetri area in Kamrup (Metro) district.
