Assam : Case registered against AIUDF MLA

Guwahati, May 23 (IBNS) : A case of hooliganism has been registered against an Assam MLA after he allegedly physically assaulted a government employee in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

According to reports, the BDO of Debitola Development Block lodged an FIR against Nijanur Rahman, AIUDF MLA of Gauripur assembly constituency in Dhubri district, for his action.

In his complaint, 59-year-old Mamila Rabidas, BDO of Debitola Development Block alleged that on Tuesday evening at around 3-30 pm, he along with Gauripur MLA and his staff were inspecting various development schemes under Debitola Development Block.

"During inspection of Naba Kumar Dong (a canal) at Debitola, Nijanur Rahman, MLA of Gauripur assembly constituency had used criminal force on me and physically assaulted one of my colleagues 55-year-old Dipjyoti Sarkar, a Gram Sevak of the Development Block," the BDO said in his complaint.

The AIUDF MLA also threatened the complainant and his staff members with dire consequences.

Meanwhile, a case (No- 35/2018 under section 147/341/352/353/323/427/505 of IPC) has been registered at Kajigaon police station.
