Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs to visit Tawang led by Tharoor

Guwahati, May 27 (IBNS) : The Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs led by senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor will visit Arunachal Pradesh on Monday to take stock of the ground situation on the Indo-China border.

According to the reports, the Committee will reach Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and also visit Sikkim the day after to examine the whole gamut of India-China relations including Doklam.

Shashi Tharoor on Sunday said in Guwahati that the Committee will visit Nathula in Sikkim on Tuesday.

“We held number of hearings with the Foreign ministry, Defence ministry, experts of India-China relations including some former ambassadors, scholars. We will go to Tawang tomorrow, border from the Arunachal side and the following day will go to Gangtok, Nathula and also briefing of the Doklam situation,” Shashi Tharoor said.

On the India-Pakistan relations that, he said it is the government’s duty to improve relations with Pakistan.
