Kolkata, May 28 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister and Trianamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has hit out at the Centre  over fuel price hike.

Banerjee has asked the central government to 'act'.

She has also questioned the lack of steps taken by the government to curb the rising prices.

"Fuel prices are increasing again and again. All are being badly affected: agriculture, transport and common people are being forced to bear burden. In spite of the grim situation, why isn't the Central Govt taking any serious steps to find a solution ? They need to act," her post on Twitter read.

The prices of petrol and diesel continued to rise for the 15th consecutive day, creating problems for people in major cities of the country.

Petrol prices were hiked by 15 paise a litre in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai.

Diesel prices were increased  by 11-12 paise per litre in the four major cities.

The fuel prices in the country has already crossed Rs. 80 per litre, creating discomfort for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The government is likely to call a meeting to find a solution to the price hike.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Rajya Sabha MP, Amit Shah, on last Tuesday, assured that the government will come up with a solution within two to three days.
