Guwahati, June 15 (IBNS): In a shocking incident, a rape accused man killed his wife by slashing her neck with a sharp weapon inside the premises of a court in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Friday.
According to the reports, the incident took place in the premises of the court of the district and sessions judge in Dibrugarh, where the man identified as Purna Nahar Deka killed his wife.
The accused was sitting with his wife Rita Nahar Deka on a bench inside the premises of the court and suddenly an altercation broke out between them.
The man slashed the neck of his wife by a sharp knife.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Assam Medical College Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.
The accused tried to flee from the court premise, but the security personnel managed to catch him.
The incident happened while the accused person was produced before the court in hearing for allegedly raping his own daughter.
According to the police, the victim filed a case against her husband of raping minor daughter in September 2017.
The Dibrugarh police had arrested the man and he was in Dibrugarh central jail for 9 months and 5 days in connection with the incident.
On June 6 last, Purna Nahar Deka was granted bail by the court and he came to the court on Friday for hearing.
Meanwhile, the accused person had committed his crime and said that, he had killed his wife by a sharp knife.
“I urged her (wife) to withdraw the case, but she refused,” the accused person said.
On the other hand, Officer-in-Charge of Dibrugarh police station Siddheswar Borah said that, the accused person came to the court for hearing a case and his wife also came.
“When they were waiting outside the courtroom, the accused person slashed the victim neck by a sharp knife and she was rushed to hospital where she was succumbed to her injuries,” the police officer said.
