Mandsaur rape victim's father demands death sentence for accused
Indore, July 1 (IBNS): Father of an 8-year-old girl, who was raped in Mandsaur area of Madhya Pradesh, has demanded death sentence of those involved in the crime.
The father reportedly said he wants the accused to be hanged till death.
When the girl was waiting outside her school on Tuesday, two men identified as Irfan Khan and Asif- abducted her and then raped, tortured and slit her throat, leaving her to die.
However, she survived and currently battling for life, reports said.
The two accused have been arrested by the police.
Politicians, celebrities condemn the incident:
Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted: "In Mandsaur, MP, an 8-year-old girl was kidnapped and gang raped, and is battling for her life. The brutality this young child was subjected to sickens me. As a nation, we must come together to protect our children and bring the attackers to speedy justice."
Actor Farhan Akhtar said: "Given the alarming frequency and the sheer perversion of the crime, one must ask.. Is our country no longer safe for children? #JusticeForDivya #Mandsaur."
Actress Swara Bhasker posted: "Shameful & horrifying news from #Mandsaur where a child was gangraped & brutalised. Glad to note that leaders have assured a speedy trial. These monsters deserve the harshest punishment. #ProtectOurChildren #JusticeForOurChild."
Actress Richa Chadha said: "Disturbing details emerge from #Mandsaur. How can anyone do this to another human being, let alone a child? Depravity! Kudos to Mandsaur Superintendent of Police for nabbing the culprit within the day and to Yunus Shaikh for announcing the accused will get no burial."
