Rahul Gandhi urges people in Mumbai to stay safe

New Delhi, July 3 (IBNS):  Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday directed people of Mumbai to stay safe after the city is hit by floods and a bridge collapse incident.

Attacking the state government, Gandhi said the civic governance in the city has collapsed.

"The streets are flooded, citizens stranded, bridges collapsing.....Civic governance has collapsed. My thoughts are with the citizens of Mumbai. Stay safe!," Gandhi tweeted.

At least five people sustained injuries after a part of a bridge collapsed in Mumbai's Andheri on Tuesday morning, media reports said.

The cause of the collapse is suspected to be heavy rain.

The accident also forced commuters to wait for long hours as the Mumbai suburban local train service was badly hit.
