Assam encounter: 3 UPLF militants killed, arms recovered

Guwahati, Sept 11 (IBNS) : Three hardcore militants of United People's Liberation Front (UPLF) were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Assam's Dima Hasao district in the wee hours of Thursday, police said.
The encounter took place at Hatikhuli area under Langting Police station in the hill district, where security personnel had shot dead three UPLF militants.
 
“Based on intelligence input, a joint team of Assam police and Assam Rifles had launched operation at the remote area and the militants killed in gun battle,” a top police official said.
 
The slain militants were identified as Nablai Dimasa, R Dimasa and Phonjit Kathar and security personnel recovered a AK-56 rifle with two magazines, one 7.65 pistol with two magazines, one Chinese hand grenade, 50 rounds live ammunition from the encounter place.
 
Security forces has launched search operation at the area against the outfit group.
