EC orders FIR against Yogi Adityanath
Lucknow, Sept 11 (IBNS): The Election Commission of India on Thursday directed Uttar Pradesh chief election officer to file an FIR against BJP MP Yogi Adityanath, who held a rally at Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday defying the state government.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission also warned Adityanath to be careful as he is accused of making hate speeches.
This comes after Adityanath held a rally at the Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday despite the state government refusing him the permission.
According to reports, local authorities refused to give the leader a permission to hold the rally in the city, worrying over a possible clash between BJP and the Samajwadi Party (SP) supporters.
The SP was scheduled to hold its own rally in the city.
The Election Commission had issued a notice to the BJP MP for violating the model code of conduct.
The notice was issued to Yogi Adityanath for allegedly making statements appealing to voters on religious grounds.
