Vice President Naidu appoints Vice Chancellor of Panjab University
New Delhi, July 21 (IBNS): Vice President of India and the Chancellor of Panjab University, M. Venkaiah Naidu has appointed Raj Kumar as the next Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, here on Saturday.
At present Prof. Raj Kumar is posted as the Dean and Head, Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University. The appointment was made by the Vice President of India and the Chancellor of Panjab University exercising the powers conferred by Section 10 of the Panjab University Act 1947.
The term of the appointment will be for three years with effect from July 23, 2018 or from the date he assumes charge of his office as the Vice Chancellor, read an official statement.
The term of the present Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Prof. Arun Kumar Grover is expiring on July 22, 2018.
The Vice President of India and the Chancellor of the Panjab University had on June 27, 2018 constituted a Selection Committee with Dr. M. Ramchndran, IAS (Retd.), Chancellor, ICFAI University, Dehradun, Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Chairman, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla and Dr. M. Jagdeesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi as Members to draw up a panel of three names suitable for the post of Vice Chancellor, Panjab University from amongst the potential candidates.
The Selection Committee submitted a panel of three names for the consideration of the Vice President of India and the Chancellor of the Panjab University on July 17, 2018 after considering various applications received and interviewing nine applicants.
