Barmer, July 26 (IBNS): Courtship with a Muslim girl proved fatal for a Dalit man in India's Rajasthan state, as he was allegedly killed by the girl's family.

The incident, which made the headlines earlier this week, took place in Barmer village of the state.

Following preliminary enquiry, state police have nabbed two suspects.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Khetram Bhim, who hailed from the aforementioned village.

His body was recovered from a field by villagers, causing a huge uproar in the area.

According to reports, Khetram was seeing someone from his employer Mehboob Khan's family.

Hariram Bhil, Khetram's brother, told reporters that the latter was earlier warned by the Khans' after the girl and the boy were discovered together.

He said that on the fateful day, Khetram was summoned to the field by Sadam Khan and Haiyaat Khan, where a group of seven men were waiting for the victim.

Hariram said that his brother was allegedly tied with a rope and lynched.

DSP Barmer, Surinder Kumar, on Wednesday confirmed that Khetram succumbed to his wounds.

A post-mortem report too confirmed the same while adding that the perpetrator may have tried to strangle the victim.
