NRC issue should not be politicised: Prakash Javadekar
New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS): Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said the issue of National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam should not be politicised.
"There should not be any politics in NRC," Javadekar said while addressing a press conference here.
The Parliament witnessed ruckus over the NRC issues on Wednesday.
Chairman Venkaiah Naidu asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah to complete his speech on the NRC issue in the Rajya Sabha.
Amid ruckus, Naidu was forced to adjourn the Rajya Sabha briefly.
Javadekar attacked the opposition and said they were not allowing the House to function normally.
"Today, Amit Shah ji and Rajnath ji were not allowed to speak in Rajya Sabha. This was a planned strategy by the opposition. The Congress and TMC don't want to let the house run," he said.
Sparking fears of deportation and a law and order crisis, India on Monday announced exclusion of about four million people from citizenship in the northeastern state of Assam bordering Bangladesh after a draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) was published.
The entire NRC issue has triggered war of words between the ruling BJP and the opposition parties.
