Karunanidhi's condition 'extremely critical and unstable': Hospital
Chennai, Aug 7 (IBNS): A Chennai hospital, where former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is undergoing treatment, on Tuesday said his condition is 'extremely critical and unstable'.
"There has been significant decline in the clinical condition of Kalaignar Dr. M Karunanidhi over the last few hours. Despite maximum medical support, his vital organ
functions continue to deteriorate," said the hospital in s statement.
"His condition is extremely critical and unstable," the hospital said.
DMK supporters have crowded near the hospital in large numbers.
Amid reports of Karunanidhi's critical health condition, his son MK Stalin met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami here.
Security has been beefed up near the hospital.
Karunanidhi is 94.
Karunanidhi was admitted to the hospital in Chennai on July 18.

Born in 1924, Karunanidhi is considered as one of the most significant southern politicians in India.
In his career, Karunanidhi served as the chief minister of the state of Tamil Nadu for five separate terms in the 1969–2011 period.
He is a long-standing leader of the Dravidian Self-respect movement and ten-time president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.
Before entering politics Karunanidhi worked in the Tamil film industry as a screenwriter. He has also made contributions to Tamil literature, having written stories, plays, novels, and a multiple-volume memoir.
