Assam : One killed, two injured in explosion

Guwahati, Sept 13 (IBNS) : A person was killed and two others were injured in a powerful grenade explosion in Assam's Darrang district on Saturday evening, police said.

According to reports, the explosion took place at Borgorah tea estate near Dalgaon in the north Assam district around 6.15 pm, where suspected militants lobbed the grenade targeting to the office of the tea estate manager.

“Two suspected militants lobbed the grenade, in which a person was killed and two others injured,” a top police official said.

The deceased person was identified as Kebalchand Jain.

The injured persons Ramakanta Tiwari and Rakesh Kerusia had rushed to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

GMCH officials said that, among the injured persons Ramakanata Tiwari’s condition is critical.

Top police and army officials had rushed to the area and launched operation against the suspected militants.

On other hand, security forces recovered an IED from a passenger bus near Jalukbari, outskirts of Guwahati on Friday.

Later bomb squad team had defused the IED.
