PM Modi announces financial aid of 500 cr to flood-hit Kerala

Kochi, Aug 18 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a financial aid of Rs 500 cr to flood-hit Kerala, media reports said.

 

Modi made the announcement after chairing a high level meeting with several officials and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kochi.

The Prime Minister also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to kins of the deceased.

At least 324 people have died so far due to incessant rain-caused flood.

Over two lakh people have been displaced due to the food, NDTV reported.

Modi, who reached Kochi on Saturday, took an aerial survey of the flood-hit parts of Kerala. 

The Official Twitter page of the Kerala Chief Minister said: "Kerala is facing its worst flood in 100 years. 80 dams opened, 324 lives lost and 223139 people are in about 1500+ relief camps.
