Don't play politics with NRC: Assam Congress warns Amit Shah
Guwahati, Aug 21 (IBNS): Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Tuesday warned the BJP and it’s president Amit Shah not to play politics with the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
During a press conference held in Guwahati on Tuesday, APCC spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharya said that, BJP is playing politics with the NRC.
“The Registrar General of India (RGI) said that, it is a draft published on July 30, not the final NRC, as some names have been excluded from the list. All of them are not Bangladeshis. But, BJP president Amit Shah told the Parliament that, there are 40 lakh illegal Bangladeshi migrants. BJP is playing communal politics and we strongly condemn it,” Apurba Bhattacharya said.
“BJP always said that, they are against the illegal Bangladeshis. If you are against the illegal Bangladeshis, then how maximum Indian citizens have been excluded from the complete draft NRC,” Apurba Bhattacharya said.
The Assam Pradesh Congress leader said that his party will support the people whose names were excluded from the list.
The complete draft NRC was published on July 30.
