Karnataka Dy CM Parameshwara hits out at Nirmala Sitharaman for rebuking state minister
Bengaluru, Aug 25 (IBNS): A day after Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman rebuked Karnataka Minister Sa Ra Mahesh at a press conference in Kodagu, Deputy Chief Minister of the southern state, G. Parameshwara, hit back at the Union Minister on Saturday.
On Friday, Sitharaman blasted Mahesh after the latter asked the central minister to wind up the press conference citing shortage of time.
Sitharaman rebuked Mahesh saying as she was quoted by NDTV, "I am following a minute-to-minute programme, minister. If officials are important, my parivaar (family) is also important.... Central minister follows the minister in-charge here. Unbelievable."
In a couple of tweets, Parameshwara said the entire incident, which was caught in cameras, is "disappointing".
Parameshwara tweeted, "Madam @nsitharaman, our ministers have stayed back in Kodagu for weeks to oversee relief operations along with district administration. You should extend to them the same respect that they extend for the help from your end. It was disappointing to see you lash out at my colleague."

Lashing out at Sitharaman for claiming herself to be superior than Mahesh, the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister tweeted, "State Governments derive their powers from our Constitution not from the Centre. The Constitution has distributed powers among the Centre and States to ensure an equitable partnership between both. We are not inferior to the Centre. We are partners @nsitharaman"

When Sitharaman was told that her angry reaction is getting recorded, Sitharaman had said "let it get recorded".
Sitharaman on Saturday visited several relief camps in Kodagu including one of the Seva Bharti camps run by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The Union Minister also donated Rs 1 cr from her Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) for rehabilitation of flood affected people in Kodagu.
