New Delhi, Aug 26 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished citizens on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

In his message, Modi stated: "Greetings to all citizens on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan," the Prime Minister said.

Modi also opened doors of his house for children and ladies to tie Rahi on his wrist.

India on Sunday celebrates Raksha Bandhan with sisters tying Rakhis (sacred threads) on their brothers' wrists with prayers and love, in exchange of promises for their safety and protection.

The festival celebrates the bond of a brother and his sister.
