Arunachal Pradesh Governor, First Lady of the state celebrate Raksha Bandhan with school children and social organizations

Guwahati, Aug 26 (IBNS): Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and First Lady of the State Neelam Misra on Sunday celebrated the joyous occasion of Raksha Bandhan in traditional favour and gaiety with schools students from various schools and social organisations of the Capital Complex Itanagar at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. 

The school children and members of the NGOs tied Rakhi (Thread of Bond and Protection) to the Governor, First Lady of the State and members of Raj Bhavan officials and exchanged greetings.

Interacting with the children and visitors, the Governor highlighted the importance of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ which symbolizes a sacred social ‘bond of protection'.

He said that the noble traditional duty of protection, of the sisters by the brothers and, in equal terms, protection of the womenfolk by the men, with brotherly emotions, is unique to the Indian culture. It is a gift to the world by the Indian civilization.

“Raksha Bandhan is the foundation for the collective endeavour towards the wellbeing and empowerment of the women in Indian culture,” the Governor said.

Reiterating that Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of humanism, responsibility and sanctity of relationship, the Governor called upon the people of the State to strengthen the endearing relationship among all the folds.

The Governor exhorted the children and members of social organizations to promote and propagate messages of peace and harmony amongst all section of the society, which he underscored as the prerequisite for development and prosperity of the State and its people.


Later the Governor hosted a high tea from the students from Government schools and Vivekananda Kendriya Vidhyalaya and members of social organization, including Brahma Kumaris and Arunachal Vikas Parishad.
