PM Modi arrives in Nepal to attend fourth BIMSTEC Summi

Kathmandu, Aug 30 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, to attend the fourth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit.

Modi was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Nepal, Ishwar Pokhrel, at the Kathmandu airport.

Tweeting some of the pictures of Modi's arrival at Kathmandu, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said: "Ceremonial welcome! PM @narendramodi warmly received by Ishwar Pokhrel, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Nepal on arrival at #Kathmandu airport. #BIMSTECSummit"

The BIMSTEC, which was founded in 1997, is an international organisation of seven nations of South Asia and South East Asia.

The member nations are Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Srilanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.
