Rahul Gandhi's fiction on demonetisation helping NPA holders: Jaitley

New Delhi, Aug 30 (IBNS): In a continuing war of words, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday slammed Rahul Gandhi for having little knowledge about demonetisation after the Congress President gave him a deadline demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Rafale fighter jet deal with France.

He also said that Rahul's little knowledge on demonetisation is helping non performing asset (NPA) holders.

The Congress party on Wednesday said that with 99.3% of the demonetised currency being returned, it's clear that PM Narendra Modi's claim of black money being hoarded in cash has been proved wrong.

"The misery imposed on millions was needless and pointless as the demonetisation exercise ends in a failure," the party said.

In a Twitter post on Thursday, Jaitley wrote: "Little knowledge is dangerous. @RahulGandhi’s fiction on ‘demonetisation helping NPA holders’, forgets that the Modi Government legislated and enforced the IBC where the NPA defaulters lost their companies."

He alleged that Rahul is avoiding his 15 questions of Rafale deal and still spreading 'falsehood.'

"Any issue diversion by @RahulGandhi on my Rafale questions, will not wipe out his falsehood on Rafale," Jaitley attacked.

"@RahulGandhi has not read my question-The fully weaponised Rafale air craft’s 2016 price is 20% cheaper than the 2007 offer. This is what the 2015 statement of the PM and the French President refers to as ‘on terms better than the 2007 offers’,"said he.

This comes after Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded a JPC probe into the Rafale deal and attacked Jaitley with a Facebook post.

He tweeted: "Mr Jaitley, thanks for bringing the nation’s attention back to the GREAT #RAFALE ROBBERY! How about a Joint Parliamentary Committee to sort it out? Problem is, your Supreme Leader is protecting his friend, so this may be inconvenient. Do check & revert in 24 hrs. We’re waiting!"

On Thursday, Rahul further took a dig at the Union Finance Minister and wrote: "Dear Mr Jaitley,

Less than 6 hrs left for your deadline on the #Rafale JPC to run out.

Young India is waiting. I hope you're busy convincing Modi Ji and Anil Ambani Ji about why they should listen to you & approve this!"

On Wednesday, in a direct attack to Rahul Gandhi, Jaitley claimed that the BJP-led NDA government is procuring Rafale aircraft at a 20 percent lesser price than the bid of 2007 under the Congress-led UPA regime and slammed the Congress president for spreading falsehood on the defence deal.

Jaitley had accused the Congress party of spreading "a false campaign based on untruth" which resulted in "casting a cloud on the Inter-Governmental agreement."

Earlier, Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani had written to Rahul Gandhi over allegation regarding the Rafale fighter jet deal and said his party has been 'misinformed, misdirected and misled by malicious vested interests and corporate rivals.'

In a press conference on Wednesday, Anil said, "Have personally written to Rahul Gandhi that INC India has been mislead by vested interest & corporate rivals on Rafale Deal."

Uttering the words of Hindu scriptures 'Satyamav Jayate,' meaning trust will previal, he had said that all Rafale allegations are "baseless and truth alone will triumph."
