Guwahati, Aug 30 (IBNS): At least two people were injured when a stone loaded truck collided with a passenger train at a railway level crossing in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district on Thursday.

According to the reports, the incident took place at Mirza, about 30 km from Guwahati, when a stone loaded truck bearing registration number of AS-25 BC-1188 collided with the Kamakhya-Jogighopa passenger train at the railway level crossing.

It is alleged that, the gates were opened at the level crossing when the train coming from Jogighopa to Kamakhya and the railway employees engaged at the level crossing hadn’t taken necessary action to stop vehicular movement ahead of the train arrival.

Two people including driver of the truck were injured in the accident and they were identified as 27-year-old Tapan Das and 22-year-old Nilakanta Bora.

They were immediately rushed to Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
