Indian President Ram Nath Kovind wishes nation on Janmasthami
New Delhi, Sept 2 (IBNS): President Ram Nath Kovind wished the nation on the eve of Janmashtami and said he wished the Hindu festival made people of the country follow the path of virtue and righteousness.
“On the joyous occasion of Janmashtami, I convey greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad," Kovind said in his statement.
"The life and teachings of Lord Krishna have a universal message- Nishkam Karma. Lord Krishna in his message has preached duty without thought of reward. May this festival inspire us to follow the path of virtue and righteousness in thought, word and deed," he said.
Janmasthami is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu.
While some parts of the nation in celebrating the birth of Hindu God Krishna on Sunday, others will observe it on Monday.
