He has been appointed as the transport commissioner.
Dilbag Singh, currently director general, prisons, has been appointed as the acting DGP.
"The reshuffle came as Centre and the new governor Satya Pal Malik were not happy over the spike in the incidents of militancy in the Valley, especially the abduction of 12 relatives of policemen by the militants in south Kashmir last week," reported Hindustan Times.
All the relatives were released unharmed after officials also freed a Hizbul Mujahideen fighter's father.
.@JmuKmrPolice has been fighting a proxy war for decades which requires a lot of courage & determination of the men & officers of JKP. Speculative articles which undermine their morale should be avoided. @ndtv as regards to transfer, it's routine matter & prerogative of the govt.
