British court to decide on Dec 10 on Vijay Mallya extradition for trial in India

London: Whether fugitive Indian business tycoon Vijay Mallya would be sent back to India for trial in money laundering and bank fraud cases will be decided by a  British court on Dec 10, media reports said.

The court in the UK today reviewed a video of the cell in a Mumbai jail where the fugitive liquor baron might be lodged if he is extradited.

The UK court earlier had directed Indian officials to share videos of the Indian jail where Mallya will be kept, reports said.

Mallya, who fled India in March 2016, owes Rs. 9,000 crore to banks and faces trial on different counts ranging from defaulting of loans and money syphoning.

The liquor baron is currently on bail on an extradition warrant since his arrest in April last year.

Mallya was arrested by Scotland Yard over a fraud case but was later granted bail by fulfilling a 650,000-pound bail bond.
