Haryana CBSE topper gangrape case: SIT makes first arrest

Chandigarh, Sept 16 (IBNS):  The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the gangrape of a former CBSE topper in Haryana's Rewari area, has made its first arrest in the case.

However, the three main accused in the case remained unarrested.

The arrested person was identified as  Dindayal of Kanina.

“The person arrested is the owner of the tube well where the accused took the victim and allegedly raped her,” Police spokesperson Naresh Kumar was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times news paper.

The Haryana Police on Saturday released the photographs of three accused in the Rewari gang rape case of a CBSE school topper, media reports said.

The accused also includes an Army personnel.

The police has announced Rs 1 lakh reward for information on the accused.

The army soldier has been identified as Pankaj, posted in Rajasthan.

The police are taking efforts to arrest him as he is reportedly the main accused in the case.

The other accused are Manish and Nishu.

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old student, who had topped the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination, was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by a group of men in Haryana.

She was allegedly abused till the time the girl fell unconscious.
