Assam : Man arrested for raping a minor girl inside a van

Guwahati, Sept 18 (IBNS): Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a 17-year-old minor girl in a van in Assam’s Baksa district.

According to the reports, the accused person identified as Falu Ali had allegedly raped the minor girl on Sept 14 night at Daranga Mela area along Indo-Bhutan border.

Falu Ali met the victim while he was returning back with his vehicle after dropping some passengers at Patkijuli village near Talumpur area.

When Ali met the girl, he proposed her to drop her destination and she accepted.

The accused person dropped the girl late at night at Dewan Market area near Daranga Mela police station and she stayed the night at one of her relative’s house and reached home next day.

The girl told her family that she was raped inside the vehicle before being reached at Dewan Market.

The family members had immediately lodged an FIR at Daranga Mela police station and police on Monday arrested the accused person.

Police also seized the vehicle.

Police had registered a case (no – 357/2018) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

“We have received information that, a man had allegedly raped a minor girl inside a vehicle. We had registered a case and also started investigation. We had already arrested a person, who involved in the crime,” Nayan Moni Das, Officer-in-Charge of Daranga Mela police station said.
