Guwahati, Sept 24 (IBNS) : A BJP MLA created a stir on Monday by displaying a placard in front of the  Assembly in protest against updating the NRC draft for Assam as the autumn session began on a stormy note.

The incident took place a day before the beginning of the process for filing claims and objections for 40 lakh people, who were left out of the complete draft.

BJP MLA from Hojai constituency Shiladitya Dev expressed his dissatisfaction over updating of the NRC drat, which takes place following a Supreme Court order.

“My Lord, don't discriminate against your own children," read the placard.

Shiladitya Dev said India is a democratic country and the people believe in democracy.  But here, we find that, the people, legislators, the Government are not being taken into consideration, but only  one person- Mr Hajela (state NRC Coordinator). Will he decide the fate of all Indians. This is a discrimination," he said.

The apex court had accepted the proposal of the NRC Coordinator for dropping five documents among the 15 listed ones  documents for filing claims and objections.

The autumn session of the Assam assembly began on a stormy note with the oppositions attacking the government over NRC, detention camp and price hike issues.
