State can impose minimum restrictions on rights: SC on Aadhaar validity
New Delhi, Sept 26 (IBNS): Pronouncing its verdict on the constitutional validity of Aadhaar or the 12-digit unique identity number, the Supreme Court on Wednesday said that a state can impose reasonable restrictions on rights, media reports said.
Reading out the majority statement, Justice AK Sikri said Aadhaar must take minimum information of an individual.
Justice Sikri also said no private companies can ask for Aadhaar number.
The personal data can only be shared only by Joint Secretary or an official above the former for national interest, he added.
