Army jawan, civilian and terrorist killed in Kashmir encounters
Srinagar, Sept 27 (IBNS) :An Army soldier and a civilian were killed and a terrorist was shot deadafter security forces launched counter-terrorist operations in Anantnag, Srinagar and Budgam of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, media rseports said.
The soldier and the terrorist were killed in an early morning encounter at Dooru in Anantnag district, while a youth residing in the house were terrorists were hold up was killed during a shootout.
According to NDTV, the firing has stopped now. It has quoted its sources as saying that top Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Naveed Jaat alias Hanzla, who had been trapped during the encounter, has managed to escape. He was the same Lashkar terrorist who made a dramatic escape from jail in February after he shot dead two policemen who had brought him to a hospital for health check-up in Srinagar.
The police said they suspect he might have received bullet injuries while fleeing from the encounter site.
Internet has been snapped in Anantnag, Srinagar and Budgam districts, where the encounters broke out.
In Srinagar, a gunfight broke out at Noorbagh after security forces launched an operation following intelligence inputs that some terrorists could be hiding at a house in the area. The son of house-owner was killed during the operation.
In a third encounter, the security forces are engaging three terrorists trapped in a religious place at Chadoora in Budgam district, 28 km from Srinagar. The police said the terrorists took shelter in the religious place after they fled from a house where they had been hiding.
