The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Nagaon district police and the army at a roadside dhaba on Nagaon bypass road.

A top police official said the two arms dealers were staying at the dhaba and trying to sell illegal arms.

The duo has been identified as  Saidul Islam and Sarjahan Ali. Security personnel recovered from them a point 22 pistol, a magazine and five rounds of live cartridges from them.

During police interrogation, they  revealed that, the illegal arms were purchased from Nagaland’s Dimapur, meant to be sold in various areas of central Assam.
