States asked to identify Rohingya refugees and collect biometric details: Rajnath

Kolkata, Oct 1 (IBNS):  Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that states have been asked to identify the Rohingya refugees, media reports said.

The Centre has also directed the states to collect their biometric details.

Singh is in Kolkata on a two day visit to attend the Eastern Zonal Council meeting.

At a meeting on Monday chaired by Singh and attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, issues related to inter-state relations and security were discussed.

Singh said the biometric details of the Rohingya refugees will be sent to the Myanmar government.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi was also present at the meeting.

Singh also committed to provide central forces to the state when required by them.
