New Delhi, Oct 3 (IBNS): Defending the Rafale deal over a massive political row, Air Force Chief Birender Singh Dhanoa on Wednesday said the Rafale fighter jets will be a game changer, media reports said.
The Chief has been quoted by NDTV as saying, "It was Dassault that was to select an offset partner and the government, IAF had no role to play."
"Rafale will be a game-changer, it has many capabilities. We have a very good package along with the aircraft - best weapons, India specific enhancement, longer industrial support commitment...we have a lot of advantages in the Rafale deal," he added.
"The IAF had listed its options - this was one of them."
The political row erupted after former French President Francois Holande said the Indian government had urged France to nominate industrialist Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence Industries as its partner in the Rafale deal by India.
Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "thief".
Though Hollande's claims were denied by the French government, the former stood firm by his statement.
