EC announces poll dates for MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana
New Delhi, Oct 6 (IBNS): The Election Commission on Saturday announced that assembly polls in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases on Nov 12 and 20.
Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram will vote to elect a new Assembly on Nov 28.
Assembly polls in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held on Dec 7.
Counting of votes for all the polls will; be held on Dec 11.
Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat announced a date during a press conference where also said: "Model of conduct to come into force in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram with immediate effect."
While Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress is in power in Mizoram.
The Congress is eyeing on to wrest power in the three BJP-ruled states in the run up to 2019 General Elections.
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh state polls are crucial for both the BJP and Congress ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections, which will be held in few months' time.
In Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had dissolved the Assembly on Sept 6.
