Cyclone 'Titli' weakens into deep depression, causes incessant rains in Odisha
Bhubaneshwar, Oct 12 (IBNS): Cyclone Titli has now "weakened into a deep depression" which triggered incessant rainfall in the state of Odisha on Friday.
On Thursday, Odisha witnessed havoc destruction as a result of the cyclone.
Several rivers in low-lying areas of the state have been reportedly flooded.
Over three lakh people in Odisha's five coastal districts were moved to safety as a precautionary measure.
The disaster management authority had earlier asked people to stay away from low-lying beaches and other locations which may be swept by high tides or storm waves.
'Titli' made a landfall near Gopalpur area in Odisha on Thursday.
In Andhra Pradesh, at least eight people have lost their lives as "very severe" cyclonic storm 'Titli' caused widespread damage in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts of north coastal region on Thursday.
The cyclone had uprooted trees and electric poles.
'Titli' which intensified into a "very severe cyclonic storm" over the Bay of Bengal also triggered heavy rain and strong winds.
