Ravi Shankar Prasad slams Congress party for comments on Statue of Unity
New Delhi, Nov 5 (IBNS): Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday slammed the Congress party and its senior leader P Chidambaram for his comments on Statue of Unity.
Taking a dig at senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, Prasad said: "These days Rahul Gandhi is visiting a lot of temples claiming himself to be a Shiv Bhakt or Ram Bhakt. On the other hand his party leader P. Chidambaram is mocking the idea of Ram Temple and the statue of Iron Man Sardar Patel.
Rahul Gandhi please tell us your stand on this."
He also criticised Congress President Rahul Gandhi and said: "Visits of Rahul Gandhi to temples and criticism of Ram Temple by his own Party leader- both can not go simultaneously."
"I condemn the comments by senior Congress leader on the statue of Unity dedicated in the honour of Sardar Patel who united India," said he.
He said that contributions of Sardar Patel was ignored during nearly 58 years of the rule of a family (Gandhi family).
"He was conferred Bharat Ratna in 1991 when a non-family member was Prime Minister," said Prasad.
The Union Minister said that even as there exist several schemes in the name of Gandhi family, yet they have a problem with Statue of Unity.
