Faizabad will now be called as Ayodhya: Yogi Adityanath

Ayodhya, Nov 6 (IBNS): A day before the country celebrates Diwali festival, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that Faizabad will now be known as Ayodhya.

Ayodhya, a mythologically significant Uttar Pradesh city, is revered by millions of Hindus as the birthplace of Lord Ram.

At present, Faizabad encompasses twin towns of Ayodhya and Faizabad.

In his Diwali celebration speech, Yogi said: "From now on, Faizabad will be known as Ayodhya."

The announcement was made by the CM just days after Allahabad was officially renamed as Prayagraj.
