Saradha: CBI examines Nalini Chidambaram

Chennai, Sept 21 (IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has examined former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's wife Nalini Chidambaram here in connection with the in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, media reports said on Sunday.

The CBI examined her on Saturday, reports said.

"A CBI team comprising officials from Kolkata and Delhi examined her on the professional fees received by her for rendering legal advice to Manoranjana Sinh, estranged wife of former union minister Matang Sinh," Hindustan Times reported  quoting official sources.

" The CBI team spent a little over half an hour at her residence," sources told the newspaper.

The Saradha Group that went bust last year left lakhs of depositors in a fix. 

Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen and Saradha Group director Debjani Mukherjee were arrested in April 2013 from Jammu and Kashmir.

He was absconding since Saradha Group collapsed.

The duo is now in jail in the ponzi scam. Sen had claimed that he was blackmailed and used by politicians mainly from Banerjee's Trinamool Congress.

Suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kunal Ghosh recently accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of having benefitted the most from the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.
