Chhattisgarh: Narendra Modi attacks Congress over Maoist issue
Raipur, Nov 9 (IBNS): Attacking one of the key opposition parties in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Congress called the Maoists, who killed a DD news channel cameraman and a jawan during a recent attack, as 'Krantikari' (revolutionary).
"A cameraman from DD news and jawans of our security forces were killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh. But shamefully the Congress called them 'Krantikari'," Modi said while addressing a public meeting in Jagdalpur in poll-bound Chhattisgarh.

He even urged people of the state to 'teach' a lesson to the Congress in the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.
He said the Congress tries to shield 'urban Maoists'.
"I urge the people of Bastar to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress leaders, who on one hand try to shield the urban Maoists, and in Chhattisgarh speak about freeing the state from Maoists," he said.
Modi said people of Chhattisgarh suffered when it was ruled by the Congress.
"When Madhya Pradesh was ruled by Congress and Chhattisgarh was a part of it, everyone knows what the people here had to suffer. Congress never thought about the aspirations of people of the region," he said.
The PM further said: "For 10 years, Congress was at Contre, but they did not pay attention towards the needs of Chhattisgarh. They never thought of the region's progress."
Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi are visiting Chhattisgarh on the same day.
Addressing a rally in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, Congress president Rahul Gandhi attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over demonetisation at Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh on Friday.
Criticising the note ban policy, which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Nov 8, 2016, Rahul said as he has been quoted by The Indian Express, "All of you were standing in long queues during demonetisation but not one black money holder was seen.
"Also, Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, Lalit Modi and Mehul Choksi ran away from the country with your money."
Rahul also attacked the BJP government at the Centre over the Rafale deal and fuel price hike.
The Congress president began his two-day visit to the state on Friday.
The state elections will be held in two phases on Nov 12 and 20.
Out of total 90 constituencies, elections will be held in 18 seats on the first day of polling. Polling in rest 72 seats will be held on Nov 20.
The Congress is eyeing on to wrest power in the state, which is presently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Chief Minister Raman Singh.
The state polls are crucial for both the incumbent BJP and Congress ahead of the 2019 General Elections, which will be held in few months' time.
