BJP aims to strengthen rural Assam, releases manifesto for panchayat polls

Guwahati, Nov 21 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released its manifesto for the upcoming panchayat polls in Assam and promising all rounds development in rural areas.

The manifesto was released in presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass and other senior leaders of the saffron party.

Aiming to strengthen rural Assam, BJP included lots of development promises in the manifesto.

The panchayat polls in Assam will be held in two phases on Dec 5 and 9.

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal said that, the manifesto was aimed to economically uplift each and every family living in villages, tea gardens, char (riverine) areas in the state.

“Every family will be benefited by the various development schemes, programmes. Our government aims to strengthen the panchayati raj system in the state. People of Assam know very well, how the Congress totally destroyed the panchayati raj system in the state and looted all development funds which were allocated under various development schemes,” Sonowal said.

The Assam CM further said that, people of Assam now decided to stand with the BJP to make a corruption free Assam.

Sonowal confident that, BJP will win majority seats in the upcoming panchayat polls.

On the other hand, state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass said that, the BJP-led government has already busted all corruption syndicates, which were set up in the previous Congress government.
