Farmers rally on second day, heads towards Azad Maidan
Mumbai, Nov 22 (IBNS): Around 20,000 farmers of Maharashtra have hit the streets of Mumbai as the rally entered the second day on Thursday, media reports said.
The farmers, who had started their rally in Thane a day ago, reached Maharashtra's Dadar on Thursday morning and they are heading towards Azad Maidan.
The farmers, who are struggling to deal with the agrarian crisis and natural calamity, are demanding an appropriate implementation of the loan waiver package, which was announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in 2017.
Due to the rally, traffic is expected to be hit in Mumbai on Thursday as well.
A similar protest had occurred earlier this year when around 35,000 farmers, who were led by All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), rallied from Nashik to Mumbai. The protest was called off after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Maharashtra government had accepted all the demands of the peasants.
