Narendra Modi wishes nation on Guru Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi, Nov 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

The Indian PM tweeted: "Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught us the path of truth, righteousness and compassion. He was committed towards eradicating injustice and inequality from society. He also believed in the power of education. We bow to him on his Jayanti and recall his inspiring thoughts."

Apart from Modi, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also wished the nation on the special day of the year.

"आप सभी को गुरुपर्व की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं। गुरु नानक देव जी की पवित्र शिक्षाओं से हमारे जीवन में ज्ञान, करुणा और शांति का प्रवाह हो, मेरी यह कामना है| GuruNanakJayanti," he said.

Birthday of  Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus, is being celebrated across the nation on Friday.
