India to host G20 Summit in 2022, confirms PM Modi

New Delhi, Dec 2 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that India will host the  G20 summit in 2022.

The year will also mark India's 75th year of Independence.

Modi tweeted: "In 2022 India completes 75 years since Independence. In that special year, India looks forward to welcoming the world to the G-20 Summit! Come to India, the world's fastest growing large economy! Know India’s rich history and diversity, and experience the warm Indian hospitality."

According to India Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had requested Italy to host the summit in 2021 and allow India to organise it in 2022.

Modi visited Argentina and attended to attend the G20 Summit.

He met several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, on the sidelines of the event.
