Fire in Mumbai forest; doused before reaching residential areas

Mumbai, Dec 4 (IBNS): A massive fire at a forest area at Mumbai's Aarey colony in Goregaon broke out on Monday evening, media reports said.

The fire, which was four-km wide, was doused before reaching the residential areas.

The winds coming from the hills were however helping the fire to get spread to the residential areas.

No casualty has been reported yet.

The blaze started at an IT park in the western suburb at around 6:30 pm.

Several people posted pictures of the blaze on social media.

Rakesh K Singh, a Twitter user, said: "#Aareyforest #Mumbai ..under fire. D same #Aarey that we all r trying to protect from various vested parties. Now it's burning for the alleged cause of Fire. "natural calamity" Appeal to Save flora & fauna. Save all animals & not only humans..."
