Cooch Behar/Kolkata, Dec 6 (IBNS): Though the Calcutta High Court denied permission for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s 'Ganatantra Bachao Yatra (Save Democracy Yatra)', the saffron outfit will continue to hold a rally at Cooch Behar in West Bengal on Friday.

The high court on Thursday ordered that the yatra, which was scheduled to be flagged off by BJP national president Amit Shah at 4 pm on Friday, cannot occur till the next hearing, which will take place on January 9, 2019.

The BJP said it will approach the division bench of the high court.

According to media reports, the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court has asked the BJP to draw his attention over the matter on Friday morning.

West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has said the party will hold at least the rally if the high court doesn't allow them to conduct the yatra.

The high court said it will consider the reports of 24 districts through which the yatra will pass in January.

The West Bengal government told the court that it cannot grant permission for the yatra in such a short period of time.
