Days after Bulandshahr violence, Yogi government transfers police officers
Lucknow, Dec 8 (IBNS): Days after the Bulandshahr violence, in which a police officer was killed by a frenzied mob over suspicion of cow-slaughtering, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday transferred a number of police officers, media reports said.
The body of Singh was found hanging out of a police vehicle after a mob attacked the policemen with stones and firearms.
The policeman was allegedly shot dead by the mob, according to an NDTV report which said the violence was sparked by reports of discovery of 25 carcasses of cows near the police station.
On September 28, 2015, a mob had allegedly barged into the house of Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri and in the assault he later died.
Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, the prime accused in the Bulandshahr violence case, was arrested on Thursday. The violence had claimed two lives.
