5 dead in Mumbai hospital fire

Mumbai, Dec 17 (IBNS): A major fire at a hospital in Andheri East on Monday evening has killed at least five people and injured several others, media reports said.

The fire broke out around 4pm on the fourth-floor of the five storey Employee State Insurance (ESCI) Hospital at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation premises, The Indian Express reported.

As many as 108 people were rescued and 147 patients were shifted to Cooper Hospital (Andheri West), P. Thakrey Hospital (Trauma), Jogeshwari (East), Holi Spirit Hospital and Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri (East), the report added.

A two-month-old is among those dead, said Hindustan Times, adding that 10 fire engines with six water tankers are working to control the blaze.
