Guwahati, Dec 19 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Assam unit and the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday staged massive protests in Guwahati over the Rafale deal issue.

While, the Assam BJP staged ‘Rajiv Bhawan Gherao’ programme in Guwahati against the Congress, the Congress party workers protested against the BJP.

Thousands of BJP workers, supporters marched from Gopal Boro High School playground in Guwahati holding placards and shouted slogans against the Congress.

Several vehicles including ambulances were stranded on the road as heavy security personnel were deployed to stop the BJP protesters from moving towards the Rajiv Bhawan.

On the other hand, the Congress workers and supporters also staged protests against BJP at Rajiv Bhawan over Rafale deal issue.

“Congress is misleading the people of the country. Without approaching the Supreme Court authority, Rahul Gandhi and Congress are spreading lies about the Rafale deal and misguiding the people and we have taken an agitation programme of Rajiv Bhawan gherao against it,” Assam state BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass said.
