Fracas over Rafale : Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day, Lok Sabha till 2 pm

New Delhi, Dec 20 (IBNS) :Fracas continued to rule the roost in Parliament  on Thursday causing repeated disruption in the proceedings and leading to adjournment of both the Houses over the Rafale issue.

While the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till Friday, minutes after it began on Thursday, the lower House, Lok Sabha, was adjourned till 2 pm.

In Lok Sabha, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is expected to move the Triple Talaq bill for consideration. Also, Union minister Thawar Chand  Gehlot will move a Bill to amend the Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999. The bill was earlier passed in the upper house and will be taken into consideration today in the Lok Sabha.

The upper house of Parliament was scheduled to discuss various bills including, the National Council for Teacher Education (Amend) Bill, Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (2nd Amend) Bill, Representation of the People (Amend) Bill, and the Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation) Bill.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned amid uproar after the centre rejected the opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Rafale deal

Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were washed out for the seventh day today after the opposition and treasury benches clashed over the Rafale deal.
